The original part of the " Casa da Cela
" predates the birth of Portugal itself.
And over the centuries it has been improved and
adapted using tradicional agricultural methods. During the last
twenty years ,the main house ,as well as the outhouses .have been
completely renovated ,including the building of an interino Pateo
in tradicional Portuguese stone ,together with a stairway in
granite.
Here you can enjoy the swimming pool ,gardens
,solarium ,barbecue grill with tradicional firewood oven ,spas
,vineyards totally replanted ,as well as a forest where more than
2.000 species ,of trees can be found ,among them Oak ,Walnut ,Faia
,Chestnut and Cherry.
In the gardens surrounding the house several
species of plants and bushes can be observed ,as well as vast
stretches of green grass. In na old Porch ,a Museum has been
constructed where ancient agricultural tools and craft pieces can
still be seen.
The old cellar has been completely renovated
,allowing for wine tastings to be carried out ,and where videos of
agricultural work from by-gone days ,as well as the present ,can
be viewed (for example how the vineyard was planted and the
supporting houses built).
The ancient walls are interspersed by sash windows ,turrets and
chimneys.
