| THE POMBEIRO
MONESTERY
Monumental prodution of the Portuguese roman
art, that imin Frei António da Assunção Meireles opinion, it
would be built by D. Gomes Aciegas, in eighteenth of July of
1059. Considered National Monument, in 1910.
You can behold:
At the church: Romanic arcs;
Enourmous rose-window, finishing whith the arm of the Sousas;
two towers, whith the spire pinnacle of the steeple, and eight
archs each, where you can find the bells, three nave, the larges
columns in granite; the arched roof two pulpits artistics in
shap of a vepsel; the sarcophagus in stone were it is settled
lied statues of mechieval knigths; valious paintures at oil, at
linen and at the roof the golden pitcher (Barroque) from the
school of Frei Vilaça; the core an arch of rococo style; the
pipe organs; the grave of D. Manuel faria e Sousa.
At the Convent: The library; the
cells of the benedetines Monks; the central cloister supirior
and infirior; the beautiful and rich façade turned to the
south, in neoclassic style(?); the glazed tile, pratically
demolished with the biblic scenes from the eighteenth century(?)
Outside: Sarcophugus; monument to
the founder of monestery in bronze; the Cruise.
THE ROMANIC CHURCH OF AIRÃES
From the teth century, this
church was built possibility by the bishop of Dume, D. Arías
Nunes and consecrated to
Sta. Maria. It's considered National Monument, in 1997.
You can behold:
The portico, is formed by arcs of
great circle of live edge; the octagonals columns; the basics
and the chapiters; the preciose stone seat at the beehive in
granite, preserving the enigmtics monograms from the local
artists. At the inside: the triumphant arc; the vault of the
main chapel at midle cannon; the arc in curvilinears mouldings;
the chapiter from the Gospel, representing two angels on their
Knees. The beautiful image of Sta. Maria, in painted stone
ança, dated from the thirteenth century, as wells as
magnificient nativity scene whith twelve images exposed in the
sacristy from the eighteenth century.

THE PAROCHIAL CHURCH OF SOUSA
In romanic style, whith some
traces of the ends of the seventhieth century. It is a real
estate of public interest classified.
THE ROMANIC CHURCH OF UNHÃO
Built in year of 1165. Considered
nacional Monument.
THE CHAPEL OF GRADIM
In romanic style.
Archeological
patrimony
Besides the romanic buildings,
Felgueiras has a huge identified archeological patrimony.
Since 1992, the parish of Sendim
has been digging out and exploring what seems to be a Roman
Village, giving evidence of a manorial roman house from the
fourth century. B. C., whith thermal baths, cold swiming-pool,
saloons which floors are geometric mosaic, halls with acess to
the thermal baths, thermal fire - chamber, drainage system of
water supply to the roman village.
Aparte from this, a wide range of
remains were digged out from the archeological place as the
fragments of kitchen ceramics, luxurious ceramics, glasses,
metal and coins of bronze, will belong to the museological
assets. After being carefully restored, they will be exhibited
in the interpretation Center that gives support to the Roman
Ruins.
